Projekt - "Q-PORKCHAINS" - EU's 6. rammeprogram

I EU’s 6. rammeprogram under prioritet 5: ”Food Quality and Safety” er der bevilget midler til et femårigt projekt med titlen: ”Improving the quality of pork and pork products for the consumer: development of innovative, integrated and sustainable food production chains of high quality pork products matching consumer demands” (acronym:
Q-PORKCHAINS).

Pillars (RTD modules)
Scientific and Technological Objectives
I. Consumer / Market Analysis To develop new tools for marketing and development of porkbased products based on mapping and assessment of behaviour towards the pig production chain as citizens and as consumers.
II. Diversity, Flexibility and Sustainability of Farm-level Production Systems
To develop tools and systems for improved responsiveness of sustainable production systems at farm-level towards society demands.
III. Product Development – Quality,
Nutrition and Convenience
To develop innovative technologies for improved pork products to match consumer demands in relation to quality, nutrition, and convenience.
IV Integration and Sustainable
Management of the Production Chain
To identify and develop tools for integration and efficient sustainable management of a diversified European production and distribution system.
V. New Biology as a Tool for Control of
Pork Quality
To develop and apply new and appropriate molecular control tools in the production of pork.
VI Synthesis of Existing Knowledge on
Pork Quality, Safety, and Welfare
To develop prediction models for pork quality, safety, and welfare as a consequence of the production systems.
Horizontal components
Specific Objective
A. Pilot Chains, Demonstration, and SME
Networking
To facilitate cooperation with SMEs on pilot research and demonstration activities (of results of Pillar I-VI) and develop interorganisational collaboration along pork chains and networks.
B. Education, Training, and Dissemination To transfer knowledge from the project to users at all levels
C. Project Management and Administration To manage, coordinate and administrate Q-PORKCHAINS during its lifetime.

DMRI medvirker i modulerne I, II, III, V og VI, samt i Horizontal component B. Instituttet er work package leader i modul III.

Samarbejdspartnere
Københavns Universitet/Life Science (projektkoordinator), Århus Universitet/Det Jordbrugsvidenskabelige Fakultet og MAPP, Danish Crown. I alt medvirker 47 institutioner og virksomheder fra 16 europæiske lande og fra Brasilien, Kina, Sydafrika og USA.
