Introduction to Reconfigurable Architectures - What, Why, and How?

Center for Software Defined Radio and Danish Technological Institute invite you to a one-day seminar about reconfigurable architectures.

Reconfigurable architectures are expected to become a necessary platform for applications such as Software Defined Radio where the functionality is not fixed at run-time. Furthermore, for some applications, dynamic reconfiguration promises resource savings compared to fixed architectures.

A subset of reconfigurable architectures is both Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) as well as heterogeneous architectures consisting of both FPGAs and software processors. However, the design of such systems is not a trivial task. In this seminar by Technological Institute/Center for Software Defined Radio we will give an introduction to reconfigurable computing, covering basic concepts as well as applications, design methods, and possibly a demonstration on an FPGA.

Underviser
The seminar will be conducted by PhD student Andreas Popp from Center for Software Defined Radio at Aalborg University. Center for Software Defined Radio is a regional technology center with the purpose to contribute to the development of the coming generations of wireless communication.

Indhold
The preliminary agenda is:

A) Introduction to Reconfigurable Computing

B) Applications of Reconfigurable Computing

C) Design Methods for Reconfigurable Computing

D) Demonstration/example on an FPGA

Hvorfor deltage
The seminar is aimed at experienced and potentially new designers of embedded systems for e.g., digital signal processing, and telecommunication applications which require reconfigurability in the solution. After the seminar the participants will be familiar with basic as well as advanced concepts, theories and methods of reconfigurable computing and they will have a sound idea of how to start designing a product using reconfigurable architectures based on the most recent FPGA platforms.

Bemærkninger
The event will be conducted in English, if necessary. The event will take place on

Monday 23 November 2009, from 9 am - 2 pm at:

Technological Institute
Gregersensvej, DK-2630 Taastrup
Entrance 6, Room 60

The final program will be made available at www.csdr.dk:

Registration can be made on www.teknologisk.dk/k54070 before November 9.

Participation is free of charge. However, there will be a no-show fee of 500 DKK.
