Industrial hemp is one of them most interesting plants providing strong fibers for textile, building materials, composites e.g., besides high value products from the hemp top.

Recently new breakthroughs have come with utilization of hemp fibers in new business models, such as insulation materials from EKOLUTION in Sweden and launching of the hemp chair by Normann Copenhagen, processed in Denmark. The unique hemp plant has high yields, can be grown in Denmark as well as Sweden, the whole plant can be used in a number of sustainable products all with negative CO2-print and with a circular value chain.

In this webinar you`ll get an insight in the multiple purposes of the hemp plant and the story of how two new products have reached the marked.

Speakers at the webinar:

  • Bodil Engberg Pallesen, Senior Specialist at DTI, with more than 25 years of experience with development of new applications from hemp and other plant fibers, besides being project manager for a numerous of projects with hemp and biomaterials.
  • Remi Loren, CEO and Cofounder of Ekolution AB, will talk about the journey from starting a new processing plan with hemp straw to insulation mats, building up the marked within sustainable building materials.
  • Søren Stryhn Petersen, CTO at Normann Copenhagen, and in charge the project Hemp Chair, in cooperation with DTI and Designer Peter Hiort-Lorenzen. Søren will talk about the challenges and vision for their newly launched Mat Chair Collection.
