Contract manufacturing on a food-graded extruder

Flexible solution for testing new products on the market

When your food product is ready for launch, and Danish Technological Institute can help you bring it to market through our toll manufacturing service for food. In connection with market testing of a new food product, it is advantageous to produce a smaller volume of products – which is often too small for large-scale production facilities. With the capacity to produce as little as 2 tonnes per production run, our food-approved extruder is ideal for market introduction.

Our toll manufacturing for food takes place in food-approved facilities, using only food-approved equipment. The products are packed in food-grade packaging, which makes transport and any repacking easy. Our pilot plant is approved for production steps, which means that products made here contribute to quality-assured manufacturing.

At Danish Technological Institute, we offer milling, mixing, drying and coating as part of our toll manufacturing. With a capacity of 5 - 70 kg/hour, and numerous configuration options for the screws to vary the intensity of mixing and kneading, we can adapt production to your needs.
Our dryer can operate with hot air and infrared heat, and handle temperatures up to 250°C. In addition, we have equipment for wet texturisation of plant proteins.

In connection with toll manufacturing, the Danish Technological Institute can handle:

  • Purchasing and storage of raw materials
  • Preparation of equipment and facilities
  • Food production including own-checks, mixing, extrusion and drying
  • Packing in food-grade packaging
  • Cleaning of equipment and facilities
  • Shipment of pallets

Smaller production – greater flexibility

Smaller contract manufacturing runs allow greater flexibility in adjusting recipes, as well as responding to changes in demand or market conditions. It becomes easier to adapt production as needed and can also help reduce waste, as production is more closely aligned with current demand.

These smaller runs create significant value for both large and small companies as well as start-ups, as they make it possible to test new products on the market. By producing smaller quantities, companies may be able to reduce costs by avoiding overproduction and storage of unused goods.
