Development days with the food extruder
Join us when we test your ingredients, recipes and new food products
The Danish Technological Institute’s food-approved extruder is highly versatile and flexible, making it ideal for getting new products ready for market. Its capacity is small enough to test many different things without creating a lot of waste. The size of our pilot facilities is also a major advantage if, as a food developer, you work with costly ingredients.
We can help you fine-tune a new recipe, test an unexplored ingredient, and develop an entirely new product. We have tried many different raw materials in our extruder and also have experience with many different end products. We can evaluate and adjust the plan during a development day, as the equipment’s capacity is relatively small. This means that we can, for example, continuously adjust the recipe based on what we observe on the day, and we can also adjust parameters on the equipment quite quickly in order to optimise and explore the limits.
On a development day, with help from two specialised technicians, you can test several different options and take home a handful of prototypes. Prototypes produced in the pilot plant can be tasted, giving you the opportunity to compare them sensorially or conduct small market tests of the product.

3D-printed titanium parts allow us to meet every need
Our specialists in 3D printing for food contact are at your disposal if you need custom-designed solutions. With a focus on food safety and quality control, the technology is adapted to your needs so that we can test your food product optimally on the food extruder.
A development day in our food-approved pilot production:
- 5-8 recipes are tested per day
- After the development day, you take the extruded prototypes home for further development
- You get access to our sensory facilities and the Foodturelab® development kitchen for additional product development support
- Documentation from the production and any changes to the recipes
- High level of professionalism and full confidentiality at all times.
